Swimming, Easter, Sun

SWIMMING
We signed Ollie up for swim lessons at the aquatic center for two sessions in a row this spring.  He has gone for two weeks now and is loving it thus far.  We scored with a great teacher this time and it is so nice to not have to get in the pool with him like we had to with the mommy/daddy and me swim lessons.

EASTER

Not being religious people, we celebrate the secular version of Easter, bunny and all.  We dyed eggs, the Easter bunny brought the boys each a little Easter basket and hid a whole bunch of eggs (the empty plastic variety) around the house for Ollie to find.  Ollie was a little upset that all the eggs were empty, which was funny since we have never put anything in them before.  I may have to get a little creative next year to find some non-candy easter egg filings.

The "before."
Colors.

Ollie thought that all the eggs were for him and did not want to share the dyeing duties.

The "after." Monster eggs.
Easter Baskets.  Ollie got a baseball glove and Mariner's jacket (consignment find), as well as some other little fun items.  Henry got some new wooden blocks.

SUN

We seem to be having a real spring this year, complete with some glorious sunny days.  It still isn't warm, but at least it isn't totally soggy and grey.  We have been taking advantage of the sun and getting outside as much as we can.  Mylo took the boys to Grandpa Blago and Grandma Kristi's beach (Chuckanut Bay) last week when he was still on spring break (and I was working).  They had a grand time finding shells, crab pinchers, and tide pool hunting.
Crab pincher.
Skinned knee.  Dang barnacles.
Rock throwing.

We have also been spending lots of time in our yard.  We have big plans for yard projects this summer - fence, retaining wall, replacing our sewer line.  It is going to pretty exciting. For now, we are working on our veggie garden, which we are hoping to fence in the next month or so.  We got our cool weather veggies all planted - kale, garlic, shallots, peas, kohlrabi, broccoli, lettuce, pac choi, carrots, swiss chard, fava beans, and cabbage.  We used mostly starts from a local farm (Joe's Garden) and some seeds, most of which were left overs from last year.  We still have some herbs to plant in our new herb spiral (pictures to come) and potatoes to plant in some potato towers.  Once the weather warms up more, we will be planting beans, zucchini, tomatoes, and maybe some peppers.

Henry is loving his new found freedom in the yard as he toddles around.
Sun, glorious sun.
