11 Months

Oliver is now 11 months old. Only 1 month left until toddlerhood. He is still pretty svelte babe, but based on extremely precise bathroom scale measurements, is about 20-21 pounds. About a week before his 11 month birthday, Oliver started walking for real. It began with a few rogue steps between articles of furniture and has graduated to the preferred method of travel. He still looks like a drunk sailor, but he is gaining confidence, which leads to more bumps and bruises.

This is seriously the best walking picture I have so far {I have a video, but I cannot figure out the uploading process}. Oliver is increasingly hostile towards picture taking and no longer cooperates when we bust out the camera.

He has really started to latch on to his "taggie" blanket. He likes to finger the tags when he is falling asleep and won't relinquish the blankie until he has fully woken up from his nap. He is getting really good a falling asleep on his own. He is usually really sleepy and groggy when we put him down in his crib and then he drifts off to slumber land all on his own. Now we just have to master the falling back asleep during the night. He had a couple week stint of great sleep, sleeping through the night every night. Once he caught on that we were starting to get used to actually getting a full night's sleep, he decided to switch it up on us and the last few nights have been pretty brutal.
He still has only 4 teeth {two on top and two on bottom} and there are not noticeable signs of more to come. He is eating a ton of solid food lately, but pretty much refuses to eat veggie finger foods. He will still eat veggie purees, but will immediately spit out any other form of vegetable. He eats an entire banana most mornings and loves yogurt mixed with fruit. He is still a bit of a texture snob {he gets that from his dad} and doesn't like odd textures.

Oliver has recently started to explore climbing into and onto things, like the dishwasher. The other day he pulled out every utensil and handed them to me as we unloaded the dishwasher. What a good helper! He is obsessed the the dishwasher and loves to play with the soap dispenser.

His hair is getting longer and blonder. He has a bit of a rat tail going on, but I am just not ready to cut it yet, even though Uncle Juice says it is time for it go.

He loves bathtime and tries to climb in as soon as we turn the water on. Thankfully he has not succeeded in his tub climbing efforts yet.

Oliver pretending to be Rambo with one of my headbands. I don't know about you, but I think it is a nice look for him.

Oliver now says "mama", "banana", and "mum-mum" {for other food}. He will occasionally bark like a dog when prompted and shakes his head yes. He has also begun to sign and signs "dog", "all done", and "milk." He recently started pointing at things and will wave "bye-bye" {but never then prompted} and clap. He is a serious busy body and can entertain himself for quite a while with his toys or puttering around in the kitchen. He makes the most hilarious "ewok grumblings" {as we call them} when he is busy playing with something. He is just oozing with personality and we can't wait for him to talk more so we can hear what is going on in that brain of his.
