Halloween, one of my all time favorite holidays, came and went. Like two weeks ago. Although we decorated the house and yard, we never got to some of the Halloween crafts I had intended to do. Next year, I suppose.
We did carve pumpkins. We carved our pumpkins with Grandpa Blago and Grandpa Kristi. Two of our four pumpkin patch pumpkins rotted from the inside out before Halloween, which was super irritating. I ended up getting two more pumpkins for carving from the grocery store. Lame.

I totally thought that Ollie would be into the pumpkin gut removal, but he was a bit squeamish about it. Instead, he delicately used the spoon to remove individual seeds.

Kristi mostly played with the baby. Per usual. :)

Mylo's carved pumpkin on the left, complete with bags under its eyes. Much like us these days. My carved pumpkin on the right.

From left to right. Ollie's owl, his request, but carved by Mylo, then Blago's two baby pumpkins, and finally Henry's scary pumpkin, carved by me.

My mom made the boys' costumes again this year. It is kind of a tradition. Ollie decided months ago that he wanted to be an alligator and he wanted Henry to be a lion. My mom already had a lion pattern, but couldn't find an alligator pattern at the fabric store. I did a little internet search and found the exact pattern my mom had used one year for me and my brothers, circa 1988. It has an alligator, mermaid, and frog. So I ordered it and had it shipped to my mom. It turned out great and was a bit of flashback.

I love the tail.

Henry's lion costume also turned out great. I was going to paint a little nose and whiskers on his face, but kind of forgot. He probably would have just smudged it anyway.

Grandma Wendy came over on Halloween to pass out candy while we took the boys around the block. We missed the downtown trick or treat, but our neighborhood is fantastic. Plus, it was fun to see all the neighborhood kids.

Obligatory kid photo - terrible, like usual.

Ollie was pretty stoked to trick or treat. He was a little shy at first, but he really warmed up to it once we got going. He would even grab the candy from the bowl (with gloved alligator hand, mind you) when he was offered the bowl. One lady had on of those bowls where there is a hand in the middle that moves and makes noise. For some reason she thought it would be a good idea to try it out on little three year old Ollie. He was not a big fan and was backing away from her with a freaked out look on his face. Fortunately he quickly recovered.

Showing off his alligator crawl, which was hilarious.

Ollie's candy haul. He made out pretty well for just going around the block. People in our neighborhood give out good candy too!

Mmmmm, sugar.
