Bay View State Park

It's catch-up time on this here blog.  Our hard-drive died about a month ago and after almost four weeks at the shop, it has been repaired (new hard-drive and screen).  Fortunately, all pictures were recovered! So here is the first of many update posts:

The last weekend in June we headed to Bay View State Park on Padilla Bay with Mylo's dad and step-mom.  It was supposed to be a two night excursion, but it was forecast was calling for major rain on Saturday night, so we decided to skip Saturday night and head down Sunday morning instead.  It turned out to be a genius decision because it poured cats and dogs Saturday night and Sunday's weather was beautiful.

We set up camp with our new six-person family tent, which was awesome.  The boys got their very own camping chairs, which they loved.

Camping chairs!

Snack time
We cooked hot dogs over the fire, roasted marshmallows and did everything that you should do while camping.  The boys were in heaven.  Henry got into everything - tried to fall into the fire pit, scaled the woodpile, and pretty much wreaked havoc on the entire campsite.

We also took a walk down to the bay to check out the mudflats.  The tide was really low, so we were able to walk way out and explore all the muddy goodness.  We found crabs, periwinkles, a sculpin with tons of eggs under a rock, and lots of oysters.

The boys slept great - Ollie in his sleeping bag and Henry in the portable crib.  We slept great as well, with the aid of some foam sleeping pads - by far the best addition to our camping stash we have made thus far, with the exception of our family tent.

Sitting by the fire in the morning.

Footy jams and crocs - too cute to resist.

Biking around the campground.

Loading up the Highlander, which was packed to the gills, for one overnight of camping cemented our decision to finally pull the trigger on a mini-van.  Behold, the Swagger Wagon.  We are looking forward to taking her on a few more camping trips this summer/fall.
