2011

2011 is going to be another eventful year for us with the impending arrival of our second munchkin. It seemed as though this pregnancy was creeping along at a snail pace until now. I am nearing the end of my second trimester and now our due date is only a little over three months away. That seems soon, really soon.

We don't have a lot to do to prepare for our new arrival - we have most of the gear, we have lots of clothes, we just set up the crib and changing table/dresser in the nook of our room, but we do have a lot to do around our house. We still need to finish decorating our house (it has been a slow process), we have some painting left to do, we need to get some new curtains for the bedrooms, there is yard work, and organizing that never got done post move. I know that none of this will get done after the kiddo arrives, so I am hell bent of getting it done before he arrives - even if it kills me and Mylo.

Since Mylo and I had the last week and half off from work, we did get some of tasks marked off the infamous to-do list. We got the chickens outside into their new coop - which Mylo built in part of our existing garden shed. We packed up the Christmas decor. We cleaned and organized the now chicken-free garage. We partially organized the office area - we still have a ways to go. We set up our budget for 2011 with the help of our new YNAB software. We amassed a pretty good pile to donate to goodwill and take to the kiddo consignment store. We got out all the little baby clothes. It was a good start to 2011.

Of course, there was more that we wanted to get done (there always is), but we took a break and headed to Yakima to ring in the New Year with Grandma Sally and Grandpa John. It was ridiculously cold in Yakima - close to 7 degrees with the wind chill, so our plans of snowshoeing were out. Instead, we visited my sister Sarah and checked out her new house, visited the Gibbons family (thanks for the cinnamon rolls Carolyn), Mylo and my mom completed a lovely "old woman" puzzle, we played lots of Sequence, got out to see Harry Potter, and drove out to see the big horn sheep and elk at the feeding stations.

Puzzlin' - Mylo has now decided that puzzles are very relaxing and we should have a
"puzzle room" in our house so he can always have a puzzle going - WHAT???

Post nap, post donut hole daze

Big Horn Sheep - according to Ollie they have, "Big horns on top of their heads."

The Elks - which Ollie kept calling "Melks"

Ollie refusing to look at me with the camera in my hand - take one...

Take two...

and Take Three.

In other news, we started potty training. More on that soon...

His doughnut face is SOOOO funny! I love that picture! And tell Mylo that it is okay to like puzzles. I always have at least one going on our dining room table, until the kids mess it up and I have to start over. A puzzle room is sounding like a great idea!

Sounds like you had a productive start to your year. I felt inspired to check some things off my mental list while Josh had extra days off to help out too. Yay!

Pregnancy still seems to be creeping along on the snail track for me though.
